Las Cruces, NM - The sixth annual White Sands International Film Festival of Las Cruces (WSIFF) to be held August 25th - 28th in Las Cruces, NM has announced a draft of this year's schedule of events. Visit the event's website at www.wsiff.com for a more detailed schedule as the event gets closer.

"The 2011 White Sands International Film Festival, presented by the City of Las Cruces is going to knock your socks off!" said WSIFF Event Manager Dawn Starostka of Helping Hands Event Planning. "We have the debut screening of Mark Medoff's Refuge to start it all off, followed by some top notch talent in town, workshops and some amazing VIP parties."

Thursday, Aug. 25th - Opening Night!

The Festival kicks off with the premier of Refuge, the latest feature film by Academy Award nominated screenwriter Mark Medoff. Immediately following, VIP pass holders are in for a great evening of food, wine and conversation with Medoff, Refuge stars Linda Hamilton, Chris McDonald, and other special guests at a VIP ONLY party at an undisclosed location.

Friday, Aug. 26th - Workshops Begin

A slate of great workshops begins on Friday, as well as a full day of films at the Cineport 10 located at the Mesilla Valley Mall. Friday evening culminates in the screening of The Doors featuring Val Kilmer, recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. Another sure-to-be-talked-about VIP party follows for VIP pass holders.

Saturday, Aug. 27th - Various Events

Saturday is another day of films at the Cineport 10 as well as workshops. The beautiful Rio Grande Theatre is home to this year's awards ceremony, in which recipients in each category will be honoured, followed by an evening on Downtown Main Street - under the stars ending the exciting festival week.

Sunday 8/28 - Student Films & Salsa Fest!

See what the next generation of filmmakers has in store on Sunday at the Rio Grande Theatre, and check out Salsa Festival just outside the theatre. Fest goers get film discounts!

The White Sands International Film Festival, in its 6th year, brings together films from around the world to showcase the skills and talents of amateur and professional filmmakers alike. The festival is a 4 day event running August 25-28, 2011 with film screenings, workshops and VIP parties in the friendly city of Las Cruces, NM.
