Tickets Still Available for Mariachi Concerts

Tickets are still available for the Student Showcase and Spectacular Concert at the 18th Annual Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference this weekend, Nov. 11-12.

The concerts start Friday night with the Student Showcase Concert at the Pan American Center. Mariachi groups, vocalists and folkloric dance groups audition for the chance to perform in front of over 5,000 people. The Student Showcase takes place from 7:30 - 9:45 p.m.

On Saturday night, two favorites of the LCIMC, Mariachi Cobre and Mariachi Sol de Mexico de Jose Hernandez, take the stage along with headliner Vikki Carr for the Spectacular Concert at the Pan American Center. Over 750 workshop participants also perform with world-class musicians and dancers for the opening numbers. The Spectacular Concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday evening.

Tickets for the Student Showcase are $10 for adults, $9 for NMSU students, staff and faculty, alumni, retired and military. Tickets for the Spectacular Concert are $28, $41, $51, and $81 dollars.

The conference concludes on Sunday, beginning with the Mariachi Mass, a ceremonial event drawing over 7,000 people of all denominations annually, with liturgical music provided by Mariachi Cobre. The festivities then continue with Mariachis y Mas Fiesta and competition, filling the rest of the day with performances by mariachis and folkloric dancers. Mariachis y Mas takes place on the Mesilla Plaza from noon to 5:00 p.m. Both the Mariachi Mass and Mariachis y Mas Fiesta are free and open to the public.
